Jane Madeline Hoger (nee Bishop), of Southampton, NJ, formerly of Medford Lakes, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on March 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 88. Jane was born on August 15, 1935, in Camden, NJ. She was a beloved wife, cherished mother of four, adored grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of one. Jane’s warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Jane was the heart and soul of the Hoger family. She married her sweetheart, Donald Hoger, in 1955 and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Jane’s passion for life was evident in her dedication to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Jane’s legacy is carried on by her devoted husband of 68 years, Don, her loving children, Cynthia, (Mark), Shirley, Doug, and Sean, (Deanne), her grandchildren, Brooke, Ian, Chase, and Ryan, whom she adored, her great-grandson, Henry, her sister, Margaret, and many nieces and nephews. She was not able to enjoy her recent great-grandson, who was born shortly before she succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. Jane was predeceased by her mother, Emma, her father, Horace, three sisters, and six brothers.
Jane enjoyed reading, music, movies, sewing and needlework, gardening, and taking walks with her family and friends. She was a member of the Pinelands Young at Heart Club which met monthly and sponsored trips throughout the country. Jane and Don enjoyed many of those trips, including visiting Mt. Rushmore.
Jane was an assistant in the LeisureTowne Library and served as a pool monitor. She actively participated in the three days a week “Trim-a-cise” class which was an aerobics exercise program and attended Tai Chi and Yoga classes. Jane also delivered the “Watchdog”, a monthly publication of the LeisureTowne Civic League.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests memorial donations may be made in Jane’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alznj.org/), and the Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad, (https://www.hles178.org/support/2023funddrive) 4 Holly Boulevard, Southampton, NJ 08088.
